BGC Impromptu

BGC Impromptu enhances Bonifacio Global City’s street life by showcasing live performances from the BGC community. 

 

This project aims to give artists a platform to share their work with the public through spaces/venues that are free of charge and are located within BGC.

CATEGORIES

BGC Impromptu is open to performers in the following categories:

MUSIC

Analog
Open to all musicians, whether vocalists or instrumentalists.
Vocalists must be accompanied by live music or none at all.
Canned music is NOT permitted.
Covers and re-arrangements are allowed, however, original compositions are encouraged.
Full band set-up is NOT allowed. Acoustic and jazz performers are preferred.


Digital
Live recording and manipulation of sounds created by the artist or instrument operated by the artist.

DANCE

Performances must be choreographed.
Musical accompaniment may be live or recorded provided they are of high quality and are limited to the maximum permitted decibel level.
Participants must be dressed decently at all times.
Acrobatic performances are permitted.

PERFORMANCE ART

Spoken Word
Acts include poetry readings and other similar spoken word performances.

Theater
Limited to excerpts of straight plays, musicals, shadow plays, and all forms of oral storytelling.
Original works are highly encouraged. Re-staging or re-interpretations of existing works are allowed, however, performers must ensure the work does not infringe on any copyright laws.


Improv Shows
Improvisation groups, including stand-up comedians, must follow a set program.

Street Performances
Open to performers or acts including but not limited to: jugglers, magicians, mimes, ventriloquists, and balloon twisters.

Q:

What if my performance is not mentioned above?

For performance types not included in the accepted categories, please indicate in the sign up form.

 

Organized gatherings such as meet-ups, rehearsals, jamming, or workshops do not qualify under the BGC Impromptu program. This requires a different permit from the location/BGC.

PARAMETERS & CRITERIA

PARAMETERS

  • Performers must be at least 18 years old or be accompanied at all times by their legal guardian.

  • All performances must be live and produced by the body of the artist. The only sounds permitted are music or human speech or both. 

  • Sounds cannot be unreasonably loud or disturbing. Volume must not exceed 60dB from 10 feet away from the source of sound.

  • Acts must not make use of objects that can cause serious bodily injury to any person such as sharp objects, flammable materials, or similar items. 

  • Smoking is not allowed in the BGC Impromptu spaces. If you wish to smoke, please proceed to designated areas.

  • Performances must be in good taste and appropriate for a public setting, for audiences of all age groups and from all walks of life. Performances should be apolitical and must avoid profane language and images.

  • Performances must be appropriate for audiences of all age groups and walks of life in a public setting.

  • For covers or restaged works, performers must ensure that they do not infringe existing copyright laws. Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc. (BAFI), Fort Bonifacio Development Corporation (FBDC), and its subsidiaries will not be held liable for any incidents related to this matter.

SAFE PERFORMANCES

For artist and community safety, BGC Impromptu shall enforce additional guidelines and

protocols in compliance with IATF-EID and Taguig Safe City LGU Health & Safety Protocols.

FAQ

Q:

How long can my performance be?

Artists must perform for a minimum of one hour (including set up). Amplified performances may last for a maximum of 90 minutes. Unamplified performances may last for a maximum of 3 hours. 

Q:

Will I get paid?

Performers may collect tips for their performances and retain revenue from the sale of their approved products. No commission on sales is due to BGC Impromptu. BAFI will not pay for performances. 

Q:

Can I sell my merchandise?

Performers may sell recordings of their music or other performance-related products and artwork created by the performer within the assigned area.

Q:

What else should I take note of?

  • Performers are responsible for collecting and reporting any sales to the corresponding government agencies.

  • Products for sale must be declared and cleared with BAFI, FBDC, and representatives from BHS.

  • Performers may not charge for the performance nor use aggressive measures to solicit donations.

  • The products may be priced at the discretion of the performer.

  • The price must be disclosed to the audience in advance of selling the product. 

  • Promotion & merchandising of other entities (i.e. sponsors, commercial brands) is not allowed during performances.
